Gaviscon Advance Aniseed 500ml is a pharmacy-strength liquid that gives fast, long-lasting relief from heartburn, acid reflux, and indigestion. Unlike ordinary antacids that neutralise acid, it forms a unique protective raft on top of the stomach contents. This raft physically blocks acid from rising into the food pipe, giving relief that lasts up to twice as long as regular treatments.
It is especially effective for symptoms triggered by spicy or fatty foods, coffee, alcohol, pregnancy, hiatus hernia or reflux oesophagitis. The pleasant aniseed flavour makes it easy and enjoyable to take.
How Does Gaviscon Advance Aniseed 500ml Work?
It contains twice the concentration of sodium alginate as Gaviscon Original. When mixed with stomach acid, sodium alginate and potassium hydrogen carbonate react to form a thick gel-like raft that floats on the stomach contents. This raft stops acid reflux while calcium carbonate helps it form quickly and adds a soothing effect.

Directions for Use
Shake well before use. Adults and children 12+: Take 5–10 ml (one or two 5 ml spoonfuls) after meals and at bedtime. Do not exceed 40 ml in 24 hours.
Ingredients
Each 10 ml contains 1000 mg sodium alginate and 200 mg potassium hydrogen carbonate. Also contains calcium carbonate, carbomer, methyl and propyl parahydroxybenzoates, benzyl alcohol, sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, aniseed flavour, and purified water. Each 10 ml contains 4.6 mmol sodium.
